In-House VAT Assistant, Preston, to £36k

Reporting to the VAT Manager you will provide an indirect tax service to this large business. There will be a particular emphasis on compliance and controls and the provision of accurate information to the senior management and HMRC. Your main responsibilities will include:

Liaison with external agencies and HMRC including attending meetings.
Providing a high quality compliance service and ensuring the timely and accurate preparation/review of all Group VAT returns and liabilities.
Reviewing and maintaining tax systems including the implementation of controls to streamline VAT return process and reporting.
Undertaking VAT reviews of different areas of the business.
Providing tax advice on capital projects and assisting in the implementation of tax efficient schemes leading to significant cost savings for the Group.
Assisting the VAT Manager and Head of Tax with Due Diligence projects, liaising with vendors and their tax advisors in respect of land transactions and new company acquisitions.
Developing new or existing corporation tax skills to help with the Group corporation tax compliance.

The ideal candidate will have a relevant professional qualification such as AIIT, ATT, ICAS or CTA and will have had a successful career working in Indirect Tax. You will have proven experience of dealing with HMRC. This is an excellent opportunity to work in an in-house environment for a fast growing business. and to get exposure to areas outside of indirect tax.
