The purpose of this role is initially to support the tax team through a period of change following a large acquisition. On-going responsibilities will primarily be in reporting, compliance, transfer pricing and process improvement. The European tax team is looking to position itself as a value-adding, future-looking function within the business. Over the long term this should facilitate a more commercially efficient tax position and will take into account tax planning opportunities, legislative/ environment changes and business changes.
Key Responsibilities
Tax reporting:
Support UK and US GAAP tax reporting including:
* Monthly US GAAP reporting
* Quarterly UK and US GAAP reporting
* Tax provisions for local financial statements
* True up (US to UK GAAP) and PYAs
A good understanding of UK & US GAAP reporting will be required
Transfer pricing:
Assist with transfer pricing, to include:
* planning and documentation (in particular the implementation of BEPS actions)
* interaction with US TP team
* identifying risks and opportunities
* BAU TP compliance
Process improvement:
Assist in identifying and implementing best practice in reporting and compliance processes.
Other reporting:
Assist with implementation of CBC and other reporting requirements, as required.
Legislation changes:
Monitoring legislative changes and managing their impact on the Group
Tax compliance:
Assist with review of tax computations as needed and support on tax audits across the EMEA region.
Tax Projects:
Potential backfill of all tax areas to allow project prioritisation and focus within the wider tax team, this will include assisting the Head of tax and Integration Manager as required/ directed.
Required background:
* The successful candidate will have experience of managing the UK tax reporting process for a significant multinational group, including a thorough knowledge and experience with tax accounting and reporting requirements, including deferred tax, under UK and US GAAP's.
* They will have a good working knowledge of UK legislation and be up to date with current developments, in particular around the BEPS agenda.
* Insurance experience, including Lloyd's knowledge would be preferable.
* Management experience required, although they will have no direct reports, they will support the learning and development of more junior members of the team.
* ACA and/ or CTA and/ or equivalent
* Fluency in written and spoken English is required. Any additional European language skills will be looked on favourably.
