I am recruiting for one of my top firms in London. Currently, there are two directors, based externally from London, that run the VAT offering. Both have impressive backgrounds at the Big 4, extensive experience of business development and are technically. They are hugely supportive and will be on hand to assist you with any complicated technical queries that you may encounter. In other words they will act as mentor figures.

The firm is one of the most growth driven firms that we have encountered. The practice is currently on track to double in size within the next three years.

This firm is known in the market as a real mover and shaker. They have made numerous strategic hires in the past year and are growing significantly. Opportunities like this do not hang around for long.

The role will involve you assisting accountants with their VAT problems, working on some of the complex tribunal work for the direct clients of the VAT team and servicing the VAT problems for the clients of the wider firm.

What is exciting about this role is the professional development opportunities. You would be the sole VAT practitioner based in London, so you will be the first port of call for clients. Once you have settled in and got to grips with the existing work, you can involve yourself heavily in business development (which would look great on your CV). In the near future, they will start to build a team around you. If you were to stay with this firm, you would see yourself leading the whole VAT offering in London.
