Background and Purpose:

The primary role of Group Tax is to provide strategic tax direction to the Group; ensure business opportunities and transactions are optimised from a tax efficiency purpose in a sustainable and responsible manner; and ensure that tax risks, both financial and reputational, are managed and mitigated in a manner consistent with internal risk management practices.

Within this, key activities to focus on will include:

* Tax strategy/Global tax policy
* Business partnering
* Advisory
* Compliance
* Reporting
* Risk management and assurance

Core Competences Required:

* Recognised tax and/or accounting qualification essential
* Relevant tax compliance and reporting experience gained in either industry or the profession
* Organised and thorough in approach with attention to detail and accuracy, and strong analytical abilities.
* Able to work efficiently on own initiative and prioritise work to tight deadlines, whilst managing multiple competing demands.
* Creative and solution driven. Takes proactive ownership and responsibility of issues and manages effectively through to resolution
* Strong desire to continuously drive operational excellence
* Excellent stakeholder skills - is able to effectively listen, communicate (verbally and in writing), challenge and influence team members, immediate peer group and more senior members of team.
* Able to develop effective working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders across the business and at various levels of seniority.
* Willingness and enthusiasm to contribute fully to the functioning of the wider team, Group Tax and Group Finance
* Adaptable and flexible in approach and working patterns
* Willingness to spend time as required in the business units
* Excellent knowledge and practical experiences of Microsoft office packages and willing to work with other IT packages
