Are you a committed, highly skilled Corporate Tax Accountant looking for a career change? Our client, a Top 10 Firm located conveniently in Central London, are looking for an Assistant Manager to join their Corporate Tax team. The Role
The role has three main elements. Firstly, you will take on a corporate tax compliance portfolio as acting manager. Secondly, you will take control of the corporate tax workflow requirements for the whole tax team, managing the work allocated to students within the team. Third, you will assist the directors and partner with the delivery of advisory assignments, which will give you the opportunity to develop a breadth of skills including BEPS, R&D, capital allowances, exit planning, due diligence and M&A. The role will be split 50/50 between compliance and advisory work

Duties associated with compliance work will include:
• Liaising with the client, the audit team and junior tax colleagues to organise year end site visits, reporting deadlines and being efficient in the provision of information;
• Reviewing tax computations prepared by junior members of the team and ensuring files are ready for partner/director review;
• Reviewing deferred tax (including listed companies, under IFRS, and under FRS102) using Alphatax and producing accounts disclosure including consolidated tax notes
• Preparing draft tax analyses on more complex items such as distribution exemption / overseas PE exemption / transfer pricing / CFCs as part of managing the risk on compliance cases.
• Taking appropriate action to ensure tax payment and filing deadlines are adhered to
• Ensuring client queries are responded to proactively and efficiently and further opportunities followed up accordingly.

Duties associated with advisory work will include:
• Preparation of scoping documents/engagement terms/proposals for work;
• Attend meetings to effectively gather information and make an accurate record of the meeting;
• Prepare draft reports and liaise with the client to ensure follow up queries are dealt with and all information received;
• Assist in the project management process by keeping internal teams and external clients updated with progress;
• Ensuring the various files are maintained and in line with internal QC guidelines.

As part of the tax team you will also be expected to provide feedback and input to team members’ appraisals and act as a mentor to more junior members of the team

The Candidate
• ACA or CTA qualified (corporate route preferably)
• Demonstrable, broad and strong technical knowledge and experience
• Extensive experience working as part of a team
• Able to build good relationships with clients as well as other members of the tax team and staff from other departments
• Experience of identifying opportunities for business development on tax clients and across other service lines
• Proficient in Alphatax or similar systems
• Experience of managing the firm’s financial exposure, billing and adjusting the approach to work depending on the available budget desirable
