Tax and Accounts Assistant, Sheffield

Working as part of a team, the role of the Tax & Accounts Assistant includes assisting with tax compliance, preparing personal and trust tax returns and repayment claims, assisting with the preparation of trust accounts, Court of Protection reports and accounts.

The Role

Main duties and responsibilities include:

* Carrying out tax compliance reviews, completion and submission to HMRC of annual tax returns and repayment claims, preparing tax calculations, making tax payments, reclaiming overpaid tax
* Maintaining excellent and up to date records of tax papers
* Preparing schedules and supporting information to assist with tax return preparation
* Preparing trust accounts using the firm's bespoke systems
* Preparing Court of Protection annual report forms and accounts using the firm's bespoke systems
* Preparing bills for tax and accounting work
* Work as part of a team to ensure all filing requirements are completed within statutory deadlines
* Implement and ensure compliance with the firm's policies and procedures
* Ensure confidentiality is respected and maintained at all times

The Person

Applications are welcomed from individuals who hold or in study towards an accounting qualification, ideally you will have a minimum of 2 years' experience or personal tax work. A grounded knowledge of income tax and capital gains tax is imperative, coupled with the knowledge and experience of computer software packages for tax return and accounts preparation, this will be advantageous. You will possess the ability to work to and meet deadlines, display a professional approach at all times and be able to operate flexibly and as part of a team. An eye for identifying possible issues to avoid any risk to the firm is a plus, along with constant consideration to individual client's circumstances and requirements.
