Mixed Tax Assistant Manager or Manager, Edinburgh

This strong independent firm of accountants is looking to recruit an ambitious mixed tax (personal tax weighted) individual to join their thriving and expanding tax department.

Providing both compliance and advisory services to a quality client base in Edinburgh and the immediate surrounding regions, you will oversee a portfolio of high net worth individuals, landed estates and unincorporated businesses, including partnerships and family trusts.

The role in brief:

Managing a portfolio of clients including planning compliance work, managing the process through to submission of tax returns and some client contact on day to day compliance matters

Monitoring budgets and discussing issues with senior staff

Liaising with colleagues across the firm to provide a coordinated client service

Supervising, reviewing work and assisting junior team members in managing their own client portfolio; coaching and mentoring

Undertaking advisory work and assisting senior members of the team with ad hoc technical matters

Preparing fees and budgets/proposals for potential new clients and discussing with senior team members

Contributing to business development activities with senior team members

About you:

ATT and/or CTA qualified/part qualified or willing to work towards achieving the CTA

Good knowledge of Income Tax, CGT, IHT, national insurance contributions, trust and partnership taxation

Experience of reviewing personal tax returns

Ideally some prior exposure to tax planning projects

Excellent communication skills; a team player and responsible

Knowledge of CCH Personal Tax would be advantageous, but is not essential
