Working for a well-known company, this is a broad and technically diverse role suited to someone who is either already working 'in-house' or looking to make their first move into industry.
You will be involved in all tax matters for the UK business from a compliance & ad-hoc planning perspective, with the support from the parent company's internal tax resources. As the in-house tax resource for the subsidiary business, you will liaise day to day with key internal finance stakeholders within the business and enjoy the commercial interaction this opportunity offers.
The position covers corporate tax and VAT (you don't need to have experience in both, but you do need to have a tax background with an aptitude to quickly pick up new tax issues). It is essential that you are a quick thinker and very hands on.
Day to day, this may involve identifying & mitigating tax risk, managing tax compliance, providing tax input to the financial results for monthly management (Finance prepares a lot of tax related info for review) maintaining good relations with HMRC, managing the SAO process and working with group tax managers on matters involving tax planning and strategy. As previously mentioned, it is a visible role and you will have the chance to utilise your tax experience and provide insight into the FD and the finance team on tax activities, making this a particularly rewarding role for someone.
