We are looking for a pro-active, resilient and driven individual. The ideal candidate will be committed to a career in personal tax.

The role

The successful applicant will be responsible for their own portfolio of high net worth private clients including all compliance matters, be involved in the administration of the portfolio and assist with planning and projects. The position will involve supervising and reviewing the work of junior staff within the group, together with the manager peer group. Reporting will mainly be to the group’s team leader and, in many cases, directly to the partners. Individuals will also be required to assist the team leader with the management of the group.

The allocation of work includes: self-assessment tax returns for wealthy individuals, partnership and trusts; associated tax computations including CGT calculations on securities, chattels and property transactions; completion of estate tax returns; and all related and complex aspects of looking after the tax affairs of a variety of high net worth private clients with wide ranging business and personal interests

The role provides a good range of work for someone with a solid tax background wishing to build on their experience.

The team

A Partner leads the personal tax team, alongside two Directors, a Senior Manager, two Managers, two Seniors, a Semi-Senior and five Trainees.

The office

A lovely office setting, close to the town and sea front. There are currently 64 members of the Bournemouth office, including 5 Partners.

You

Individuals should be pro-active, resilient and driven. The ideal candidate will be committed to a career in tax and will have relevant strong experience in a general practice role, currently operating in the capacity as a manager.

Experience of organising the delivery of tax work, problem solving and the ability to use their own initiative is essential. In addition, they should possess the confidence and professionalism to establish credibility at all levels, be commercially minded and have a clear perception of client requirements.

Previous experience of using computerised accounts and tax packages is useful. The firm uses CCH Central.

Applicants should be preferably CTA and/or ACA qualified.

Salary/benefits

A 35-hour working week with flexibility around the core hours of 10am-12pm / 2pm-4pm
Working from home allowance of £25 a month.
Eligibility for the firm’s Profit Sharing Plan that runs from October to September each year. The scheme enables staff to share in the profits of the firm.
Competitive annual salary depending upon experience.
Eligibility for the discretionary bonus scheme.
Twenty-five days annual leave. This increases in line with length of service.
In addition, under the SeleCt flexible benefits programme, employees are entitled to buy or sell up to five days holiday a year, subject to manager approval.
Life assurance cover of three times salary, which you may increase to four x salary under the SeleCt flexible benefit programme.
Contributory pension scheme (The firm will contribute 4% of salary on a matched basis with employee after six months service)
Six-month probationary period.
