This long established family office looks after the tax affairs of a substantial, largely UK based family. This senior position reports directly to, and works closely with, the head of family office, also a private client tax specialist and someone with whom you'll share knowledge and ideas. It is a broad ranging role centering around the provision of a tax compliance and advisory service, but encompassing so much more. This is a true 'trusted adviser' role, acting as a sounding board and giving advice on a wide range of financial and practical considerations to the family members and playing a prominent lead in the tax education of the younger generation.

This role calls for a very particular skill set. You will be ACA and/or CTA, operating at senior manager or director level and have gained exposure to a range of good quality private client work including landed estates, IHT, on/offshore trusts etc. Some knowledge of US tax would be useful but is not essential. Your people skills are key - you should be entirely discrete, kind and patient but also robust when advising on the most advantageous course of action.

If you enjoy your private client role but have constant time/billing constraints and competing demands, this rare opportunity will be worth exploring. The provision of an excellent service to the family is front and centre of the family office. This will allow you to develop long standing relationships with individual members of the family, working closely with them and their other professional advisors.
