Brewer Morris is currently working with a leading financial services business to recruit a senior tax professional to head up their compliance and reporting tax teams. The role will have full responsibility for UK tax compliance and reporting as well as supporting the wider direct tax team across 25+ jurisdictions.

The business is a well-known financial services company which has it's HQ in the US. They have grown extensively over recent years; organically and through acquisition, and as such they have had to grow their headcount across the business, including the tax function. This is a newly created role and will join a London based tax function of almost 20 heads.

The right person for this role will have significant experience leading a tax reporting process for a global group. It is essential that they have extensive compliance/accounting skills as well as up-to-date knowledge of UK GAAP, US GAAP and IFRS. It would be advantageous if the individual has held at least one senior position in-house, however candidates direct from the profession are still encouraged to apply. In addition to the technical skill-set required, it is necessary for the person to have had gained good leadership skills, as the ability to manage and develop a team will be required.

The role will have a broad responsibility however the key areas of work they will be involved in are: tax reporting, process improvement, tax compliance, legislation changes and tax projects. Some of the key responsibilities will include:

* Monthly/Quarterly US GAAP tax provision
* Preparing the tax provision for statutory accounts
* Managing the tax accounts preparation
* Maintaining deferred tax positions
* Leading tax audits
* Review and improve reporting and compliance processes
* Lead UK tax computations
* Monitor legislative change
* Support tax projects, including large transformation project currently being undertaken
