Our client is a large and successful European multinational company. This is an opportunity to join the European tax department in a leadership position, taking responsibility for the indirect tax team based in various locations around Europe.

The Group would like to appoint someone with strong leadership skills and proven experience of managing a team. From day one you will take on around six direct reports.

Responsibilities include indirect tax planning, providing day-to-day indirect tax advice to the businesses, handling relationships with fiscal authorities, and oversight of compliance.

Ideally you will have at least 12 years of German and international indirect tax experience from working in a Big 4 firm and/or from the in-house tax department of a multinational company. A strong leader is required, with a vision for the indirect tax department and able to create a strategy and positive team culture. First class communication skills are required and the ability to lead, manage and motivate a team of strong technicians.

Strong VAT knowledge is essential, excise tax is also of importance to the group, so knowledge of this would be highly advantageous.

Clear communication in English is essential. At least business level German language would be highly beneficial. The size and complexity of this global company will provide professional and intellectual challenges for you for many years to come.
