Your new company

A distinctive, London based, Silver Circle law firm are offering an experienced Personal Tax Manager the opportunity to join their tight-knit Private Client Group in the heart of The City.

The private client group provides legal advice on wide variety of issues to wealthy individuals, trustees and to other institutions and firms for themselves or their private clients.

The trust and tax compliance team sits within the group and comprises four tax managers and two administrators, with partner support from across the wider private client group.

The team is seeing substantial growth in the number of new personal tax cases and is therefore looking for a full or part time tax manager to take on a portfolio geared towards personal tax, but which might (depending on the candidates experience) include trust and other more general project work. Therefore whilst the ideal candidate will have experience and expertise in all of the above areas, the main focus of this role will be non-dom personal tax compliance. Solid practical experience in this areas, the statutory residence test, remittance basis and associated issues will be key.

Your new role

This is primarily a hands-on compliance based position that will follow the normal tax compliance calendar. However, there will be a significant amount of responsibility as the successful candidate will often act as the primary contact for clients.

There will be little opportunity for delegation, the successful candidate will need to have the technical capability and client care experience to take responsibility for their own case load without multiple layers of review, but with excellent partner support.

What you'll need to succeed

The ideal candidate will be a professionally qualified (CTA, ATT, STEP) candidate with a solid career history in the personal tax group of either an accountancy or law firm, and with a minimum of five years experience dealing with non-dom tax compliance. Ideally the candidate will also have some experience of trust taxation especially IHT reporting and the ability to understand trust accounts and the ability to understand trust accounts and the wider trust tax reporting cycle.

Whilst the main focus of the role is expected to be personal tax, a willingness on occasion to take on other elements of the work undertaken by the team is essential. Strong attention to detail and excellent technical ability are essential, as is demonstrating the ability to fit within a cohesive, supportive and friendly team.

What you'll get in return

Alongside the opportunity to work as part of one of the world's most prestigious law firms you will receive a generous benefits package and a competitive salary. It is also worth nothing that there is the opportunity to take on the role on a part-time basis with some level of flexible working included.
