Role Summary
The Tax Lead is responsible for the tax affairs of the entities in the UK, Ireland and Middle East region. Reporting to the Director of International Tax Operations. Responsibilities will include:
Essential Job Functions
1 Leading the UKI Tax function managing a team of three direct tax reports while working with colleagues from other functions across the Corporate Tax function including tax reporting; tax planning and tax advisory teams.
2 Responsible for end-to-end Direct Tax operations within the region including identification and implementation of tax planning initiatives; US tax reporting; UK tax compliance; Audit management and operational tax support to the region.
3 Managing the preparation / review of UK corporate tax returns (including all relevant supporting documentation and calculations e.g. UK debt cap/interest restriction)
4 Manage the preparation/ review of corporate and deferred tax calculations for statutory accounts including required note disclosures (IFRS)
5 Preparation/ review of quarterly US GAAP tax provisions, accompanying working papers and memorandums
6 Managing the group's relationship with HMRC including tax enquiries; audits and business risk review processes
7 Support projects to improve the tax reporting and compliance processes and software tools
8 Managing Senior Accounting Officer compliance including auditing financial reporting internal controls to identify weakness and recommend improvements including liason with colleagues in Indirect tax team and payroll taxes and briefings to Group SAO
9 Responsible for preparation and submission of R&D tax credit claims.
10 Prepare/review tax payment calculations
11 Providing tax support to business units on ad-hoc queries
12 Supporting due diligence and integration of acquisitions as required
13 Supporting legal entity rationalization programme
14 Other ad-hoc tax duties
Basic Qualifications
1 ACA / ACCA / CTA / ATT qualified with at least ten years' post qualification experience
2 Proven tax compliance experience
3 Technically strong corporate tax accounting with thorough understanding of IFRS and US GAAP tax (desirable) reporting requirements
4 Team management experience helpful but not essential
5 Strong Microsoft Excel skills
