Reporting into the CFO the Head of Tax has responsibility for all tax matters across the group covering compliance, tax planning & advice for all types of taxation.
Key Responsibilities:
Notably the Head of Tax will be directly responsible for the control, management & reporting of the following taxes:
* UK Corporation Tax
* VAT
* Stamp Duty
* FATCA/CRS/AEOI
Other responsibilities include -
* Ensure that all matters relating to VAT are correctly treated, working in conjunction with the Senior Manager, Financial Control in Finance who has primary responsibility for the preparation and filing of the bank's VAT returns.
* Ensure a good working relationship is maintained with HMRC.
* For all taxes the incumbent will be responsible for optimising the Bank's fiscal position, reporting on time and ensuring compliance with rules & regulations.
* Responsibility (in conjunction with the Head of Legal) for reviewing SLAs and ensuring that the Bank has a documented and robust Transfer Pricing Policy in place.
* To advise on all new transactions and provide advice when requested to Heads of Department.
* To manage the VAT group reporting position
* To provided ancillary tax services to other group entities when agreed (i.e. Country by Country Reporting).
* When necessary to seek external fiscal advice and in such circumstances to manage the relationship with the chosen advisors.
* Assist in the preparation of the monthly financial reporting where it relates to tax matters (i.e. tax provision, deferred tax calculations and dashboards).
Key Requirements:
* Extensive experience of financial services tax in an international environment.
* In depth knowledge of Transfer Pricing issues.
* Experience of VAT (from a generalist banking perspective).
* Comprehensive knowledge of the Senior Accounting Officers Regime in the UK
* Knowledge of banking products and accounting, specifically from a fiscal perspective.
* Experience of evaluating "new" products from a fiscal perspective.
* Knowledge of VAT in the area of private banking business.
* Professional Accounting and / or Tax qualification
