Tax Operations Analyst, Amazon, Slovakia (applications welcomed from EU candidates)

DESCRIPTION

Amazon is seeking a Tax Analyst to join the Tax Operations team in Bratislava, Slovakia, which is responsible for EMEA Withholding Tax Compliance functions across all Amazon businesses. The ideal candidate will be customer focused, self-motivated, friendly and professional. This position will provide support in the execution of withholding tax payment/filing obligations and partner with internal and external parties related to new business launches and expansions.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

Prepare, review, and submit tax payment and filing obligations across various jurisdictions.
Assist in driving and managing projects related to the global withholding tax life-cycle.
Reconcile expense ledger with tax payable, withholding preparation, and reporting to taxing authorities.
Research and analyze exceptions related to tax information.
Communicate with internal and external customers about Amazon policies related to the collection and application of withholding tax information.
Prepare materials needed for tax provisions at year-end and tax audit.
Collaborate with co-workers to increase productivity by eliminating duplication and coordinating information requirements.
Drive process improvement initiatives to reduce manual efforts.
Foster strong cross-functional relationships with internal business partners by serving as the Tax liaison for general inquiries, communication of project/process initiatives, and plans of action.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

University degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or Tax.
3 to 5 years of experience in a finance or tax compliance/operations function.
Work history in a large multinational organization or accounting firm.
Ability to work independently with limited supervision, effectively prioritizing competing demands, and managing multiple projects to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills.
Well rounded knowledge of MS Office Suite.
Project management and organization skills.
Experience in creating/tracking metrics and writing Standard Operation Procedures (SOPs).
Customer focused, friendly, professional, and detailed-oriented individual.
Ability to maintain a positive attitude in a fast paced work environment.
Team player, reliable and dependable.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to relate processes and associated technical aspects to business partners in a straightforward fashion.
Fluent English (written and verbal).

Salary for the role: €18,800 per year, plus benefits.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Additional foreign language fluency.
MBA in Finance, MS in Taxation, CPA, or equivalent degrees.
ERP experience, such as Oracle or SAP.
Experience in working with cross functional teams.
Strong accounting, analytical, and tax research skills.
Available for overseas travel.
International experience.
