VAT Director – St Albans - Leading Mid-tier Firm - £110, 000 plus bonus & benefits

A leading Mid-tier firm is looking for a VAT Director to come on board in this greenfield role. The successful Director will have the opportunity to build and lead an Indirect tax practice. While the firm currently doesn’t have a VAT department, it does have a considerable amount of work which it currently needs to outsource. As a result, the incoming senior Indirect Tax specialist will have an existing portfolio and will quickly have the opportunity to recruit additional resource. This firm’s primary office is based in St Albans although travel to London will be necessary.
The successful candidate will come on board to lead the VAT practice. As the most senior Indirect Tax specialist, you will be responsible for an existing portfolio as well as going out to market with key Partners to ensure clients’ VAT needs are being serviced. Key aspects of this role include:

• Responsibility for the management and development of the firm’s VAT services
• Developing the firm’s internal processes and procedures in relation to VAT work
• Independently managing a client portfolio and taking responsibility for maintaining strong client relationships
• Actively promoting the firm externally, initiating and reviewing business development activities
• Contributing to staff and team development

This is a rare opportunity for an Indirect tax specialist to move into a leadership position and take on what is in effect a greenfield role. The firm is widely respected among its peers and is the ‘go-to’ firm for SMEs. That said, it also has multiple large multinational clients, privately owned businesses of all sizes and professional services clients.

The successful candidate should be a senior Indirect tax specialist with demonstrable VAT expertise. Ideally, this individual will have significant professional services experience and be comfortable in a leadership role.

In order to attract the right calibre of candidate, this firm will offer a basic salary of up to £110,000 plus bonus and benefits. This role will also offer fast-track to Partner for a high performing individual.
