Personal US/ UK Tax Assistant Manager – Rapidly Growing Boutique US/ UK Firm - London, UK


Our client is a specialist UK and US private client tax focussed boutique firm in the heart of the city of London. With a plethora of clients in the financial services sector they pride themselves on the quality tax advice they provide normally found within a Big 4 firm. Their employees typically come from a Big 4 or Top 10 accountancy firm background, ensuring that they have the highest calibre team to assist their clients. Over the last three years, they have trebled in size and have ambitious plans to continue on this growth trajectory.

The US tax team was formed in 2013, after it became apparent that there were a large number of clients in the market who required a team that could cater for the often-complex demands of individuals with US filing requirements. The team has seen fantastic growth during the past few years, and hopes to grow at the same rate over the next 12 months and beyond.

Due to expansion of their US Tax team, they are looking to recruit an Assistant Tax Manager or first year manager to take on this newly-created position.

The successful individual will work as part of their existing 8 staff US tax team, providing tax compliance services to a portfolio of clients. This will include, but is not limited to, preparing US and UK tax returns and associated papers. The role will be responsible for managing the ongoing relationship between the firm and their client base, from meetings to discuss client affairs to preparing tax returns. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the workload of the portfolio throughout the compliance cycle and ensuring deadlines are met, while adhering to their high standards of customer service. Responsibilities include reviewing simple US Federal and State tax returns that have been prepared by Tax Associates and Tax Assistants, providing feedback and improvement points where required

Experience Needed: Comprehensive US tax knowledge and experience of unsupervised preparation of complex US returns. Comprehensive understanding of UK tax law and its interaction with US tax law; experience of unsupervised preparation of UK self-assessment tax returns. Previous experience of working at a Tax Associate level (or equivalent) for a minimum of four compliance cycles. Previous experience of successfully managing and developing own client portfolio, including meetings, direct correspondence with clients and billing.

Qualifications Needed: Enrolled Agent (EA), ATT, CTA, CPA or Juris Doctor
