The group tax function at this world leader in reinsurance are looking for a qualified tax advisor to come in and provide tax reporting and compliance services for the EMEA region. The role will also have elements of business advisory to it and will work closely with Indirect Tax, Tax Operations, Transfer Pricing and Finance teams.

The role
The candidate will be a member of Group Tax, specifically providing tax reporting and compliance services as part of the EMEA Tax Team.

Key responsibilities
* Working with the Group Tax Operations team, be responsible for preparing good draft versions of tax returns prepared in-house for subsequent review
* Be responsible for preparation of quarterly US GAAP, Solvency II and statutory, tax reporting. Be responsible for annual local GAAP tax reporting and accounts disclosures
* Manage relationships with key stakeholders and finance colleagues
* Assist with tax authority queries and audits
* Assess new legislation and case law for applicability to the Group and communicate changes and related potential impacts to the business
* Responsibility for managing external advisors' preparation of tax returns for certain Group locations in Europe
* Provide advice to stakeholders, especially in respect of entities and countries where the successful candidate is responsible for the compliance and reporting

Skills/experience
* Accounting and/or tax compliance experience in practice or within the tax team of a global financial services company, with insurance experience preferred
* Tax or accounting qualified
* Professional, proactive, a self-starter, a willingness to take on new challenges
* Strong organisational skills, good written skills, ability to work to deadlines
* Ability to communicate confidently, concisely, and effectively with business partners, tax colleagues, tax authorities and auditors
* A good team player with the ability to build and maintain a network within the Group and successfully manage stakeholders
* Proficiency in working with Excel, accounting systems and/or tax reporting systems
* Fluency in other European languages a plus
