Group tax at this leader in the insurance market, are looking for a qualified corporate tax specialist to join the direct tax section of their team. The advisor will be providing support to the team and the Head of Tax as needed in respect of direct tax compliance, reporting and payment obligations of the Corporation and its subsidiaries and support on advisory work, project work and the analysis of direct tax technical issues.

Job responsibilities
* Preparation of tax computations, returns and tax reporting workbook for the company and its UK subsidiaries for review by a senior manager
* Responsibility for other UK tax compliance and some overseas
* Prepare PSA return; and provide support on employment tax issues
* Provide direct tax technical analysis and input to queries and projects for the company and the market
* Provide technical support to Tax Operations regarding UK and overseas tax requirements
* Act as a point of contact outside of the department for direct tax matters
* Contribute to an open and transparent culture of risk management
* Deliver responsibilities in line with all the relevant risk appetites, policies and reporting requirements
* Understanding of the need for internal risk control. Responsible for ensuring internal controls are operated and making suggestions for ongoing improvement

* Solid grounding in UK corporation tax compliance and reporting is essential, with an awareness of other taxes
* Knowledge of key UK and international direct tax issues and the tax environment
* Either existing in-depth knowledge of or the ability to develop and maintain an in-depth knowledge of the insurance industry
* Strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to communicate tax-technical issues to a non-tax audience
* Excellent attention to detail
* Ability to organise and prioritise work and work independently with guidance only on complex issues
* Ability to work as part of a team and liaise with other departments and external contacts
* Ability to analyse changes in legislation and assess impact on the business
* Proactive attitude toward identifying issues and recommending solutions based on initiative, experience and understanding of procedures
* Confidence to challenge information provided and to use initiative especially in dealing with areas of ambiguity
* Consultative approach and the ability to manage conflicting views
