Energy distribution network operator covering South East England is now looking to hire a Tax Manager.

Your new role

The purpose of the role is to ensure that there is a robust Direct and Indirect tax process operating within the business. This will include the preparation of tax returns, forecasts, managing cash tax outflows and maintaining a good relationship with the tax authorities.

Key responsibilities:

* Preparation of tax returns and supporting information in respect of Corporation tax returns. Including R&D and capital allowance claims
* Assist the Indirect Tax manager with the preparation of VAT returns.
* Ensuring strong financial controls operate over direct and indirect tax activities, implementing with policy and procedures
* Preparation of tax forecasts and management reporting to aid cash planning, budgeting, forecasting and regulatory reporting. Ensuring that all payments are made on time
* Preparation and submission of employment related tax submissions including PAYE Settlement Agreement
* Preparation of tax accounting notes for statutory and regulatory accounts
* Respond to ad hoc tax queries from the business in relation to VAT, Employment Compliance and Corporation Tax
* Maintain effective communication with Finance colleagues, other parts of the Business, internal and external audit to sustain a high reputation for financial governance
* Support the Payroll Manager by review and oversight of the payment of income tax and national insurance
* Contribute to the Senior Accounting Officer procedures and returns
* Partnering with the business to ensure that there is awareness and education regarding tax sensitive issues
* Develop, design and Implement appropriate procedures for new tax legislation
* Assist with preparation of documentation to support the Senior Accounting Officer requirements

What you'll need to succeed

Skills & background required:

* Experience working in Finance essential, in Tax preferred
* A graduate with minimum of upper second class degree
* Holder of a recognised tax or accounting qualification (chartered accountant or similar) or relevant experience
* Strong IT skills, including SAP and Microsoft Excel
* Able to understand, question, organise and challenge a range of financial data
* Highly organised with a diligent and acute attention to detail
* Excellent customer service skills. Interpersonal skills that establish and maintain excellent relationships and credibility quickly
* Proactive and flexible
* Contributes to a positive team atmosphere
* Able to define and align to the company's culture and values
* Through effective communication skills, presents ideas and information in a way that creates a climate in which others are informed and want to participate
* Practical and hands on
