This is a very commercially exposed, broad international tax role in the UK Team with a focus on treasury tax. You will lead in consolidating and reporting the global tax risk position of Group, with particular focus on treasury activities.


Key responsibilities;

• Stakeholder management – including other Group Tax teams Group Legal and Company Secretarial, Financial Performance & Reporting and external advisers (Legal and the Big 4 accounting firms) & auditors
• Assisting UK Head of Tax in creating an effective relationship between UK team, Treasury and Shared Service Centre in relation to corporate tax reporting
• Advise international tax aspects of UK tax law and strategic issues, including CFC, DTR, UK Post Transaction Reporting, tax residence, transfer pricing on funding arrangements and withholding tax on interest and dividends
• Support other tax projects and initiatives, covering both international and domestic issues including the OECD's Base Erosion and Profit Shifting actions
• Work with Group Treasury and other Group tax teams to manage tax risk associated with complex financing transactions and intra-group financing arrangements. Assessing the impact of changes in tax law and accounting principles on the group’s treasury operations
• Setting and communicating tax risk strategy across the group
• Assist in the delivery of the UK Team agenda
• Support both offshore and UK based team members on tax and treasury projects as needed
• To proactively manage the Group’s UK corporate tax affairs ensuring that we maintain a good relationship with HMRC, are compliant with UK tax legislation and our UK reporting is compliant with external reporting requirements
• Providing coaching to more junior members of the team
• Managing UK compliance (including reporting requirements) with regard to the Group’s Treasury companies and responsibility for WWDC forecasts and calculation. Ensure UK Group’s corporate tax compliance requirements are met including assisting team leader in the management of HMRC audit of the returns of the UK Group’s Treasury companies
• Project manage HMRC enquiries
• Regular tax technical analysis of Group businesses in response to any enquiries and associated in-house preparation of complex models to drive improvements/changes as needed
• Regular impact analysis/review of changes in accounting standards and tax law on the group's treasury operations, including agreeing a non statutory clearance with HMRC and also completing a review of the application of the disregard regulations
• Work with external tax advisors to determine arm's length interest rates and ensure appropriate transfer pricing documentation for intercompany funding, cash pooling and hedging activities
• Regularly review and advise on Business Development costs and produced written guidance on the associated tax treatment to substantiate the filing position for Group entities
• Monitor withholding tax obligations and risks, including obtaining HMRC clearances to successfully manage overall cash tax position
• Co-ordinate internal control processes to ensure all UK corporation tax risks are managed and documentation is in place for Senior Accounting Officer purposes


About you;

• Proven UK corporate tax background
• ACA or CTA qualified
• International tax experience and advantage
• Experience with treasury tax an advantage
• Good Tax reporting/Tax Accounting knowledge desirable
• Strong Financial process and governance understanding
• Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills
• Experience with leading HMRC enquiries an advantage
