International Tax Manager opportunity - maternity cover contract for 12 months
Opportunity for an International Tax Manager to join a manufacturing business in the North East of England on a 12 month maternity cover contract. You will be part of a team of three and will report to the Senior International Tax Manager. The Global Tax Department is responsible for all direct tax matters from tax accounting, and compliance, through transfer pricing to audit management and tax planning. The work undertaken by the department is both technically and organisationally challenging, requires an attention to detail and a drive for results.
Key responsibilities include:
Assist in preparation and review of ASC 740 and US GAAP accounting for income taxes for Europe and Asia
Assist in managing and coordinating income tax compliance throughout Europe and Asia
Assist in developing and managing effective working relationships with external tax advisors in many countries
Assist with income tax planning projects, including transfer pricing, for affiliates throughout Europe and Asia
Be a strong member of the tax team, including mentoring other members of the group
Essential Job Duties / Responsibilities:
Assist in ensuring that all provisions of ASC 740 are applied correctly and in accordance with US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
Help ensure the timely and accurate filing of all required tax compliance
Help evaluate proposed and enacted local country changes to tax law for their impacts on the company.
Support Senior manager in tax-related planning, including M&A
Bachelor (or equivalent) degree in accounting or tax field
Advanced degree in accounting or tax field (preferred)
Chartered Accountant / Tax Qualification
5+ years of experience in a large public accounting firm or industry tax department
Significant understanding and experience in accounting for income taxes in accordance with ASC 740 or IAS 12
Solid tax research and analysis skills
Experience in European income tax law a plus
Must have analytic, quantitative reasoning, and interpretive abilities, including advanced skills with Microsoft Excel.
Written and verbal communication skills essential
Must be able to maintain the highest degree of business ethics and integrity
Language fluency in written and spoken English, other language skills a plus
