This is a newly created role within a FTSE 250 manufacturing group, with global operations and sales in excess of £3billion.

Reporting to the Tax Director, the role requires an experienced Indirect Tax specialist to manage the VAT compliance responsibilities for the Group and suggest planning opportunities.
Suitable applicants will be practical and hands on, able to combine tenacity with tact, with a positive and proactive attitude, skilled and technically capable in the field of indirect tax.
You will also be familiar with managing VAT work across a range of territories and cultures.
The role in brief:
Manage all aspects of UK and International VAT compliance
Determine when overseas registrations are appropriate and supervise external advisers
Develop an internal VAT audit program in order to review the VAT accounts/returns for certain companies
Manage EU 8th directive/13th directive refunds
Provide awareness of VAT issues and effectively communicate the tax issues to management
Design and execute a review for current VAT processes to identify areas of improvement where necessary, including the application of technology in the VAT process
Manage VAT audits where appropriate
Identify possible areas of indirect tax savings
Provide guidance notes and training to finance teams and business when appropriate
About you:
Experience of UK, EU and non-EU regimes in both a compliance, planning and advisory capacity
A professional qualification, such as the CTA
Commercially astute and risk aware
Ability to interact effectively with tax authorities and external advisors
Ability to work autonomously
Ability to interact and communicate with financial controllers, commercial teams and senior management
Some understanding of VAT technology applications
While primarily Oxford based, this position will require some global travel in order to implement and achieve the aims of some of the projects. Therefore, the successful candidate will need to be willing and able to undertake business trips when required.
