Newly created Indirect Tax Manager role. Reporting into the Head of International Tax. Global Insurance Group

Your new role

This is a newly created role for the business and will report directly into the Head of International Tax

Job Purpose:

* Responsible for the Premium Tax filings of UK based group companies
* Oversee the delivery of the VAT returns for the Group and Branches
* Be a collaborative team member and assist others in the tax team as necessary

Key Responsibilities: Insurance Premium Tax Returns

* Point of contact for the review the VAT return for the UK VAT group
* Review of the Balance Sheet account reconciliations
* Set up new registrations for IPT/GST as required
* Prepare and/or co-ordinate the responses to IPT enquiries from tax authorities

Value Added Tax Returns

* Review the VAT return for the UK VAT group
* Review of the Balance Sheet account reconciliations
* Assist with any VAT enquiries from the business
* Manage correspondence with local tax authorities as required
* Preparation of VAT returns of European Branches of UK Insurance company

Federal Excise Tax:

* Oversee the reporting of Federal Excise Taxes
* Liaise with Houston Office Tax Department and Lloyds on FET reporting
* Review account reconciliations


* Oversee GST returns for Canada, New Zealand, Australia
* Reporting to US Tax Team in Houston as required

* Ad hoc project work for International finance dept. on tax related matters as required
* Keep up to date with all relevant tax legislation in the UK and overseas as needed
* Ensure the Policy and Procedure Manual is up to date with regard to Indirect Taxes
* Consider the Indirect tax implications of any new acquisition or structural changes, involving external advisors where necessary.

What you'll need to succeed


* Insurance Industry experience
* Minimum 3 years' experience of Premium Taxes and/or VAT
* Ideally 5 years work experience post university
* Tax Qualification
* Good understanding of accounting principles and interdependencies with tax
* IT literate with intermediate Excel
* Excellent communication skills


* Degree
* Accounting qualification
* PeopleSoft General Ledger experience
* French or German language skills
