You'll learn and develop the specialist skills our clients look for and value most and study towards a professional qualification, with support from us all the way.The work is varied and includes investigating and analysing operational and financial risk, processes, systems and controls in order to make recommendations for improvement. Good communication, analytical skills and a strong eye for detail are therefore really important.
Your knowledge will help high-profile businesses, entrepreneurs and family businesses understand complex rules and make informed decisions with significant impacts. You'll also help governments ensure the efficient operation of tax systems, and use your insight to solve long-term problems. You'll be part of a business that's committed to proactively engaging with the tax policy debate and focused on leading views and new ideas.
What you'll do
You can specialise in:Corporate TaxIndirect TaxCompliancePeople and OrganisationBy joining Tax you’ll also be involved with our innovative One Tax Rotation programme. This gives you the opportunity to work outside your core team in Tax for up to six months, learn from different clients and develop your transferable skills.From day one you'll start to build a promising career, specialising in the ever-changing field of tax. Your responsibilities will include a range of tasks which will vary depending upon the area of Tax you join. However generally this will involve:Technical researchAttending meetings with senior staffEstablishing and developing third party relationships such as with the Inland RevenueDrafting client correspondenceGeneral office duties
What you'll gain
You'll enjoy plenty of practical, on-the-job training while studying for a professional qualification with the Association of Taxation Technicians (ATT). This takes two years to complete and we'll give you study leave to go to college plus plenty of support, but you'll need to study in your own time too. The hard work will be worth it though when you pick up your qualification. And the great thing is, by the time you complete your exams, you'll have lots of valuable experience to build on.
What you need to get in
You'll need to have or be on course for 112 UCAS tariff* (or equivalent)You'll need to have a Grade C or above in GCSE English Language and Mathematics (or equivalent)*from up to three A Levels (excluding General Studies) or equivalent, taken in the same academic year and achieved at first sittingPlease note that if you have a degree, you may find our graduate opportunities more appropriate.
