Private Client Tax Manager, Bury St Edmunds

AJ Chambers are currently recruiting on behalf of a leading independent firm of Chartered Accountants for the position of Private Client Tax Manager.

The Role
You will be primarily responsible for overseeing the Personal Tax team and the provision of high quality compliance and advisory services for a range of private clients including high net worth individuals, directors of small and medium sized companies and Trustees.

Tax Manager Responsibilities
• Manage a portfolio of clients, acting as their main point of contact
• Oversee the annual compliance cycle on your portfolio
• Provide advice on capital gains and inheritance tax
• Manage a team of tax professionals, providing supervision and support
• Review tax returns, correspondence and advice drafted by more junior members of the team
• Prepare tax advisory letters, memos and reports for review and review drafts prepared by more junior members of the team
• Assist in developing the business and seek new opportunities both externally and internally
• Maintain an up-to-date technical knowledge of personal, trust and business tax matters

Tax Manager Requirements
• Extensive experience with private client tax
• CTA/ATT qualified
• Relevant experience of Capital Gains Tax planning, Remuneration planning, IR35, Trusts/IHT, P11D, Property income
• Practical experience on the use of trusts, the taxation consequences of using trusts and a basic knowledge of trust law and accounting
• Able to delegate efficiently, review work, encourage and foster development of junior members of the team
• Demonstrate business development skills
