Job Ref:

This is a rare opportunity at this level of seniority to get involved with tax consultancy work that spans personal tax and corporate tax for OMBs and private clients.

Due to expansion, this newly created Mixed Tax Assistant Manager role will report directly to a Senior Tax Manager, assisting them with providing tax advice to a wide range of OMB clients, with the larger corporates boasting a typical turnover of £10-20million, in sectors such as agriculture, manufacturing, engineering, land and property.

The client work you will be involved with is going to be diverse. From capital gains tax and IHT planning, to share schemes for corporates, SDLT and some trust tax too, rarely will one day be the same as the next.

While the preference is to recruit an individual who is already familiar with handling both personal and corporate tax client work, the business is also willing to consider pure personal tax or pure corporate tax specialists that are willing and comfortable in undertaking a mixed tax role.

This is anticipated to a position that will be at least 80% tax advisory in nature, but you will be a team player who is willing to muck in with some of the tax compliance work when needed.

You will be ATT qualified and also CTA qualified, part-CTA qualified, or interested in studying for the CTA.

You will be able to demonstrate good tax technical knowledge and a familiarity with the OMB space; an excellent communicator, with equally impressive writing skills and grammar accuracy.

You will be comfortable researching technical material and presenting your findings, writing articles and mini-reports from client meetings that you will attend in the company of a member of the senior management team.

The tax team is currently seven people, but this is likely to expand further in the medium term and you will be joining an established multi-office firm with very good staff retention rates and scope to progress to full managerial status in 9-12 months.
