Responsibilities
* Oversight of tax matters relating to the international assignee and frequent traveller population and providing income tax, social security, immigration, risk and compliance support
* Manages tax authority queries and tax audits
* Understands the group's tax control framework and identifies areas of potential weakness or opportunities for improvement through business partnering
* Take corrective actions to manage compliance, including shadow payroll requirements as necessary. Specific responsibility for HMRC Appendix 4 (Short Term Business Visitors) reporting in the UK
* Partners with external vendors to ensure timely and accurate delivery of service
* Ongoing development and refinement of standard processes to ensure consistent and standardised delivery of services
* Manages benefits provided to the assignees, including complex aspects of expatriate payrolls such as ongoing application of HMRC Appendix 5 (Net of Foreign Tax relief) and Appendix 7B (Modified National Insurance Scheme (UK outbound)) in the UK and hypothetical tax calculations
* Supporting the compliance governance of share-based incentives, working with key stakeholders internationally
Requirements
* Qualified tax advisor
* Experience of expatriate payroll, tax equalisation etc., and applying key concepts in a practical environment (e.g. Operation of HMRC Appendix 5, 6, 7A & 7B, arrangements in the UK)
* Practical experience of working with third-party professional advisers in multiple countries
* A working knowledge of immigration issues and their interaction with tax/social security compliance is an advantage
