Rare & Diverse Tax Adviser Job, Public Sector, Aberdeen, £dependent-upon-experience

Hays is delighted to be partnered with a well-known Public Sector Institution based in Aberdeen, in order to recruit for a Tax professional for the position of Tax Special Projects Accountant. Working in a Finance Team of 25 in an organisation with a turnover of over £100 million and 1000 employees operating internationally, they offer great workload diversity. Working hours are 37 per week with flexible start and finish times.

Your new role
Reporting to the Financial Director and Financial Controller, your purpose as Tax Special Projects Accountant is to ensure the organisation is fully compliant with Direct and Indirect Tax requirements, whilst providing advise on the Tax implications of organisation developments, and undertaking further special projects as required. Your responsibilities will include preparing VAT returns and annual adjustments, managing complexities such as partial exemption, capital goods and reverse charging; providing advise on Income Tax and National Insurance; and preparing annual Corporate Tax returns. You will be the main point of contact with the external tax advisors and HMRC, and assist in Tax planning alongside the Financial Controller and Director.

What you'll need to succeed
You will be a knowledgeable and team-focused Tax professional who has experience across VAT and Corporate Tax. You will have a proven track record providing compliance and advisory services within Practice or Industry, and have dealt with HMRC regularly. Ideally, you will be ACCA, ICAS, CTA or ATT qualified.
