Tax Manager Job, Chartered Accountancy Firm, Glasgow, £dependent-upon-experience
Your new company
Hays is delighted to be partnered with a long-standing Public Practice firm to recruit for a Tax Manager; the result of successful business development and relocation to a new, open plan and modern office in Glasgow City Centre. With 8 partners and approximately 50 staff, you will be joining an intimate and friendly yet thriving CA firm, which focuses on quality client service and staff well-being. Further to this, with a 35 hour week and the opportunity for reduced hours and remote working, your new firm is incredibly flexible and not only advocates, but facilitates, an excellent work-life balance.
Your new role
Working within a Tax Team of 4 with approximately 750 clients, from HNWI to growing SMEs spanning all industries, your new role is not heavily prescribed but molded to your skill set and preferences; offering a great variety of high quality work. For an individual with particular strengths in Personal Tax, you will review Private Client compliance carried out by Tax Seniors and Assistants, while being responsible for your own portfolio including trusts, handling more complex enquiries, and providing advisory services. If your forte is Corporate Tax, you will review compliance pertaining to corporate clients, such as sole traders, partnerships and limited companies, while being responsible for your own portfolio (potentially inclusive of some Personal Tax), handling more technical queries and advisory services. Equally, you are welcomed to be involved in a mix of Tax specialisms, and will be involved in staff supervision and co-ordination.
What you'll need to succeed
You will be an experienced Tax Professional with a proven track record working within a Public Practice environment. Relevant qualifications (CTA, ATT, ICAS, ACCA or equivalent) are desirable. Given regular client contact, you will have excellent communication skills and a passion for people engagement. Your new firm is founded on team work and the desire to provide high quality and personable client service, hence a similar attitude is essential. You will be open to travelling to Edinburgh one day a week (with some flexibility).
What you'll get in return
In addition to receiving a competitive salary, you will be joining a highly-reputable, long-standing and friendly firm which encourages and facilitates an excellent work-life balance, through flexible working (starting before 10:30am and finishing after 4pm), remote working, and offering reduced hours from their standard 35 per week.
