This is an exciting opportunity to join HMRC’s Large Business directorate. Our teams are responsible for the tax affairs of the UK’s 2,100 largest and most complex businesses, that pay a significant proportion of the total business taxes and duties that HMRC collects. As an International Tax Specialist you’ll be involved in high-profile risk assessment and enquiry work on some of the UK’s biggest multi-national companies.

In this role you’ll play an important part in our efforts to close the tax gap. You’ll take the lead on some of the most complex and cutting-edge cases, and bring them to resolution. This work attracts a high level of scrutiny from the public and central government bodies, so you’ll need experience of dealing with challenging stakeholders and responding constructively. We apply a multidisciplinary approach to our enquiry work, giving you the opportunity to lead and work alongside economists, accountants, solicitors and tax professionals. You’ll also enjoy scope to work across a range of different sectors and industries. Your varied responsibilities will range from leading enquiry work, through to developing national projects to promote tax compliance and identify and prevent errors.

To join us, you’ll need an appropriate professional qualification or membership. This could include CTA, ADIT, ICAEW, ICAS, ACCA, CIPFA, CIMA or a postgraduate legal qualification. You’ll have significant Corporation Tax experience, specialising in complex international and transfer pricing work within large multinationals. Whether you’ve gained this experience in practice, in industry, or right here at HMRC, you should be a team player with the confidence to lead and work collaboratively to drive risk working and settle enquiry cases.

Closing date: 28 February 2018.
