Tax Accountant (in-house), Midlands, £40k to £52k

This is a newly created Tax Accountant role and an exciting opportunity to be involved in establishing the Tax Department at one of the UK’s largest company in it's field. It is perfect for a first move out of practice. As a newly created role it ensures you will be able to make your mark and be a vital stakeholder in this emerging team.

Tax Accountant Duties Include:

Assisting the Tax Manager to ensure compliance with all relevant tax legislation
Excellent opportunity as a Tax Accountant to broaden your experience, the role will be focused on Corporate Tax in the UK and Ireland but with the opportunity to assist with other Taxes
Involvement in compliance, reporting and advisory projects e.g. Corporate Tax Returns, tax reporting for statutory and management accounts, Tax Strategy, Base Erosion and Profit Shifting initiatives, Transfer Pricing, International projects, Capital Allowance claims, Governance and Senior Accounting Officer
Raising the profile of the Tax Department across the business
Responding to HMRC queries as required
Supporting the business and providing ad hoc advice as required
Building relationships and liaising with colleagues across the business
Management of payments on account
Liaison with external advisers and auditors as required

What you’ll need for this Tax Accountant role:

A proven track record in Tax, either gained in practice or an in-house tax team within a large business
Professional tax or accounting qualification (ACA / CA / CTA / ACCA / ATT)
Excellent corporate tax technical skills and an awareness of other taxes
Ability to build strong working relationships with a variety of different stakeholders, including Senior Management
Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex tax technical topics in a straightforward manner and deliver practical advice
Able to work on own initiative and juggle priorities
Keen to learn new skills in a changing tax landscape
Excellent IT skills e.g. MS Office and Alphatax
Attention to detail, ability to meet deadlines and solve problems
