VAT Assistant / VAT Accountant - focus into VAT systems, London

Our client is a specialist professional services firm with a highly skilled indirect tax technology consulting team, operating across Europe.

The team is now seeking to hire junior level VAT professionals to refocus their careers and retrain into VAT technology / systems projects. This opportunity provides a chance to move away from doing VAT compliance / Intrastats, and moving into the IT systems and analysing process behind VAT and indirect tax compliance. Working with the firms Directors and Managers, projects will include looking into VAT processes within SAP systems, improving the VAT systems automation, advising on best use of SAP / other ERP systems for generating accurate data, advising on bolt-on softwares to the ERP, and working on set-up of VAT procedures within emerging countries VAT regimes.

Ideally you will have had some initial training in VAT, ideally with good hands-on experience of preparing VAT / Intrastat returns, operating as a VAT analyst or VAT Accountant, either based in the tax function of a medium / large multinational or within an accounting firm. In addition, you will have good Excel spreadsheet skills, strong at modifying or enhancing Excel functions, and ideally with exposure to seeing VAT numbers within SAP / Oracle or another ERP system. You will also have a strong client / customer approach, able to get your point across and explain technical scenarios in simple terms.
