Rutherford Briant are recruiting for a Head of Personal Tax Compliance for BKL to be based in their fast growing North London Office.

About the Firm

BKL is an award winning firm of chartered accountants and tax advisers which consists of 23 Partners and 160 team members split over their two offices in North London and Cambridge. The firm has almost doubled in size in the last two years and has exciting plans for future growth looking at focusing on providing a quality service to specialist areas. One of these areas is tax compliance and with a large portfolio, it is seeking to significantly strengthen and develop the personal tax team based in its North London office.

Key Responsibilities

This is a key role which will strategically and operationally manage BKL’s Personal Tax Compliance Team helping to develop the firm’s business in tax. Responsibilities include:

• Be responsible for the delivery of all personal tax compliance work across the firm.
• Lead, manage and develop the tax team and individuals based across the two locations.
• Further develop and implement appropriate working practices across the team.
• Manage all the personal tax compliance issues of the firm’s clients.
• Support business development work for the tax department and the wider firm.

Person Profile

The ideal candidate will be a Senior Manager or Head of Personal Tax, ideally from a medium sized/Top 100 Accountancy firm. You will need to be a self-starter with an excellent track record in your current firm. You will also be seen as a ‘safe pair of hands’ with the ability to manage a large team of varied personalities. Most important is your personality and drive to want to develop the Personal Tax Team and implement new systems and ways of working filtered down from the Partners.

Essential skills include: strong personal tax experience; a delivery focus; sound commercial expertise; the ability to build; lead and develop a multi-site team; maintain excellent relationships with clients.
