Fund Tax Accountant

Reporting into the Fund Tax Manager, the Fund Tax Accountant will work as part of the Operational Tax team to enable the Company's UK and non-UK funds business to meet its objectives by supporting continued growth and expansion of the fund ranges in a safe and controlled manner in view of the increased level of tax regulations and scrutiny by tax authorities.

Overview:

* The main purpose of the role is to work as part of the Operational Tax team to enable the Company's UK and non-UK funds business (e.g. UK OEICs, UK AUTs, UK EUUTs, investment trusts, Luxembourg SICAVs, Irish funds and Cayman and US hedge funds) to meet its objectives by supporting continued growth and expansion of the fund ranges in a safe and controlled manner in view of the increased level of tax regulations and scrutiny by tax authorities.
* The role will have responsibility for day to day management of Operational tax activities associated with the Company's fund business; in particular oversight and delivery of the tax functions performed by the TPA, tax agents or in-house.
* The role will assist with the development, implementation and maintenance of a tax risk monitoring framework assessing the tax risk in funds and investments and implement an outsourced service with streamlined oversight and controls that aligns with the agreed company risk appetite.
* Provide tax technical support to Operations and the wider business.
* Document policies for various Operational tax matters.

Duties and Responsibilities

To manage tax risk and compliance across the fund ranges.

TPAs and tax agents
* Oversee and manage outsourced fund tax filings, tax related accounting provisions and audit queries.
* Oversee tax deliverables in-house, and at administrator and custodian.
* Oversee tax agents - investor tax reporting and tax specific requirements for jurisdictions where the funds invest or are distributed.
* Oversee tax filings in various investment jurisdictions (e.g. India) and manage engagements with local tax agents.
* Manage tax reclaim processes with TPAs and tax agents.
* Document tax compliance obligations.
* Review and implement tax services to meet legislative changes and to ensure compliance to relevant local tax requirements (at fund, investor and portfolio levels).
* Regularly review SLAs and implement any required enhancement of tax services.
* Complete due diligence reviews on outsourced services.

Tax Risk Monitoring Framework
* Define, identify and quantify Operational tax risks.
* Contribute to the framework for the minimisation of Operational tax risks.
* Maintain documented policy and complete review process for uncertain tax liabilities.
* Non custodian reclaims - maintain documented policy for determining which reclaims to make and recognition within NAV / financial statements.
* Assist with the operation of offshore fund recognition controls with TPAs.
* Ensure compliance with the Operational tax risk governance controls and escalation of breaches.

Tax Technical
* Active involvement in new instrument assessments / markets and tax change to reduce tax risk and provide support to front office and product.
* Assess and summarise legislative changes across jurisdictions and work closely with fund accounting team and TPAs to highlight and implement any operational changes.
* Report to internal committees and Fund Boards to update on tax changes and risks and controls.
