VAT Accountant

One of the world’s most exciting retailers is on the hunt for a VAT Accountant to shake things up at its European HQ. You’ll have the opportunity to combine a passion for fashion with all things accounting as you take ownership, in this newly created role, for all things VAT related.

With continuing growth and ambitious expansion plans for the European territories, you will play your part as you become the trusted Advisor for the Group Financial Controller and the go-to individual for all VAT related matters within the business for the UK & EMEA group and be the primary point of contact for the US business. Building systems and process within the newly implemented ERP you will have responsibility for systems improvement for VAT purposes and reporting. You will live and breathe VAT and have an understanding of wider Tax issues in particular the possible implications of Brexit to EU regulations and its impact on cross-border tax.

In order to succeed you will ideally be a practice trained accountant with a background in VAT/Indirect Tax or a VAT accountant with prior retail experience.

Key Responsibilities:

- Ownership of VAT returns for European territories
- Liaison with local and international finance teams to ensure accuracy of VAT information
- Primary point of contact for HMRC investigations
- Ownership and development of VAT process and control
- Development of ERP
- Consultation with senior leadership teams on new legislation
- Intrastat returns

Skills & Experience:

- ATT/CTA/ACA/ACCA qualified
- Strong VAT background
- Industry experience highly desirable but not essential
- Advanced level excel.
