JOB DESCRIPTION

The Tax Strategy and Planning Analyst will be responsible for:

Assisting in the development of the Company's tax strategies and developing tax-efficient organizational and operational structures
Calculation of effective tax rates for Corporate Budget & Forecasts/build models for future tax projections
Providing tax explanations for use by Executives, Regulatory Affairs office, and Corporate Communications
Researching tax issues in regards to the Health Insurance industry, Payroll and Human Resource policies and programs including compensation issues
Researching the taxation aspects of transactions under consideration, including mergers and acquisitions and various joint ventures
Monitoring tax regulations to provide updates to management and to develop tax mitigation strategies
Assisting with tax audits
Researching, interpreting and developing procedures to maintain knowledge and comply with all Federal & State tax regulations
Assisting in the development of a competent and motivated staff by assuming a lead role in training, counseling and mentoring
Managing compliance with the internal control requirements of the NAIC Model Audit, including reviewing and updating internal control documentation and periodically testing internal controls

REQUIRED SKILLS

5+ years of experience in the Tax Department of a Public Accounting and/or Private Industry
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
Technical knowledge of Federal & State tax laws & regulations
Knowledge of Tax Reporting requirements
Knowledge of GAAP & Statutory Accounting Principles (SAP)
Working knowledge of PC's and Windows based software, including Tax Compliance applications
Microsoft Excel proficient (Pivot Tables and V-Look Ups)
Solid analytical and research skills
Great interpersonal skills
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
Strong attention to detail
Highly organized

Desired Skills

Master's Degree in Taxation
CPA certification
Previous Supervisory experience
Knowledge of automated Accounting systems
