The Organisation:

Our client is a leading investment bank. A rare opportunity has arisen to recruit an experienced tax accountant or lawyer into a front office structuring role.


The Role:

You will be involved in all aspects of developing and implementing structured solutions for clients and optimizing activities for the bank. Specific responsibilities include:

• Developing and implementing structured solutions and transactions
• Investigating and analysing the consequences of proposed solutions across a range of disciplines (accounting, tax, regulatory, risk, legal etc)
• Taking proposed transactions through internal approvals, including drafting papers and briefing stakeholders
• Liaising with the trading team to develop, execute and manage the implementation of transactions
• Modelling transaction economics
• Liaising with external advisers (law and accounting firms)
• Reviewing and negotiating transaction documentation
• Build strong relationships with key stakeholders
• Assist with the production of information required for the governance of the team and to keep management appraised of the team’s performance


The Person:

You will be a qualified lawyer or accountant with a number of years post qualification experience. In addition you will possess the following attributes:

• Excellent educational background
• Qualified accountant or lawyer, ideally specialising in UK tax, or experience working in a structuring team in an Investment Bank
• Strong technical abilities - ultimately it will be necessary to be confident dealing with regulatory, accounting, tax and legal issues, although not all are expected on joining
• Experience/understanding of financial instruments helpful but not mandatory
• Strong problem solving and quantitative skills
• A pro-active and dynamic personality with an ability to work collaboratively with a diverse range of people
• Communication skills:
• Ability to articulate complex and inter-connected concepts clearly – both written and verbal
• Ability to present clearly to a range of people in a range of forums
• Ability to focus on key messages and deliver clear succinct summaries
