The Company
Our client is a market leading listed corporate with an instantly recognisable brand. Operating across +100 countries globally, they have a significant group tax team centred in Dublin and are now seeking a new regional Indirect Tax Director. Responsible for managing all European VAT risk & compliance, this is a senior opportunity suitable for candidates with significant international experience. In addition to strong technical skills, prior experience managing teams is preferred, with this position directly responsible for a sizeable team. This is an ideal role for an existing Senior Manager or Director with 10+ years experience looking for a new challenge with an international remit. Candidates from both in-house and consulting firms will be equally considered.
The Role
* Represent the business globally, taking the lead on engagements and negotiations with government bodies, tax authorities, and auditors.
* Lead a team of Tax specialists, ensuring continued motivation, technical development and effective management of staff.
* Assess the Indirect Tax risk of the firm's operations, making strategic decisions on the position and ensuring continued positive reputation with tax authorities.
* Refine and implement a 'best practice' group compliance policy.
* Ensure operational effectiveness and continuously improve the integrity of systems and controls.
* Advise business units on international Indirect Tax issues, ensuring tax risk is managed appropriately for all transactions.
* Work with regional and global stakeholders on VAT initiatives.
* Act as a key member of the Tax leadership team, providing ad hoc support where required.
About you
In order to succeed in this challenging role, it is expected that you will have:
* 10+ years Indirect Tax experience.
* Prior tax leadership and team management experience is preferred.
* Excellent communication skills and strong commercial decision making.
