The Role
Farfetch has grown at a rapid rate since its launch and now delivers fashion items from 26 countries to consumers in over 170 countries resulting in global sales of products of over $300m and still growing. With operations in 8 countries and over 1000 employees, there is now a huge opportunity for a strong Indirect Tax Manager to be integral in implementing change at a pivotal point in the business. This is a first time in house role for this position and as such strong indirect tax technical knowledge with customs experience background is required.
In return for your commitment, you will be trusted to advise and support the finance leadership team, reporting to the Group Head of Tax. You will also learn about the company's various specialty lines, in a period of planned growth and work on matters such as new business initiatives, contract reviews, compliance processes and general technical questions.

Key Responsibilities
The role will provide a strong degree of autonomy and the person will be expected to own and set the vision for the business VAT controls.
• UK and EU VAT compliance process
• Identification of process improvement opportunities and the on-going development of new processes and best practice
• To support Partner Boutiques on VAT related queries
• Training customer fronted teams with relevant indirect tax requirements
• Completion of technical notes on various business wide projects
• Completing in depth review on current processes and advising of risks and opportunities thereon
• Assisting the Head of Tax in liaison with tax authorities on matters relating to indirect taxes
• Analysis and support with implementation of changes to UK and EU indirect taxes legislation
• Ability to travel to Portugal
Who you are
• Qualified Accountant (ACA or ACCA) or Tax Advisor (CTA)
• An undergraduate degree preferable, but not essential
• Big 4 trained preferable, but not essential
• Strong EU VAT technical knowledge, including EU Distance Selling regulations
• Sales tax experience preferable, but not essential
• Strong inter-personal, written and oral communication skills
• Strong organisational and project management skills
• Basic knowledge of customs, including import thresholds
• Hands on attitude
