Great in-house opportunity for an experienced tax manager. Our client will consider a part time (3 or 4 days) or full time appointment. candidates will need proven UK corporate tax experience at manager level.
- Supporting the Group CFO in determining and, where appropriate, refining the tax strategy of the group;
- Day-to-day responsibility in administering all aspects of taxation and tax compliance for all group companies including Corporation Tax, VAT, PAYE and Payroll related taxes, Property taxes, Import Duty/BTIs;
- Ensuring that, from the perspective of taxation, the key financial processes are properly documented and updated and reviewed regularly with a view to achieving improvements and efficiencies;
- Ensuring that all group companies meet the requirements of the Senior Accounting Officer regulations;
- Maintaining good working relationships and leading day to day contact with HMRC;
- Supporting the relevant Finance team members in each companies' finance teams to understand their tax compliance processes;
- Liaising closely with the Group's external tax advisers,as appropriate;
- Assisting, from the perspective of taxation, with the compilation of annual budgets and forecasts, monthly Group management accounts and KPI reporting packs; and
- Maintaining a detailed, up to date technical knowledge in all relevant tax related areas.
Skills/attributes required
- ACA/CTA qualified or qualified through industry experience, ideally with at least 2 years PQE (most likely already an experienced manager) and a strong academic track record;
- Strong tax accounting skills and a detailed working knowledge of UK corporation tax, UK GAPP and ideally IFRS;
- Strong analytical skills;
- Pride in producing high quality, accurate and timely information ' high attention to detail is key;
- Self motivated with a flexible approach to workload, good planning and organisational skills and an ability to operate independently;
- Disciplined approach to work including the ability to work under pressure to manage conflicting priorities and meet tight deadlines;
- Hands-on and proactive with a positive 'can do approach';
- Team player with excellent coaching and staff development skills; and
- A good communicator, both oral and written.
The ideal candidate is currently likely to be either (i) in a similar role with another corporate (possibly a PLC) or (ii) seeking a first role in industry from a current position in the Tax department of a leading professional services firm.
