This FTSE 100 tax team is responsible for providing expert tax advice and guidance to the central functions and divisions.

Job Purpose

The UK Tax Senior Manager will own a number of ongoing work streams and will also take responsibility for ad hoc projects as needed. This role will focus on UK corporate tax with a focus on process improvement and use of technology. Partnering with the business will form a key part of the role, as well as undertaking projects outside the UK Tax space as needed by the department, and to broaden experience.

Main Tasks:

* Lead on all aspects of the UK corporation tax (including statutory reporting and payments) and VAT compliance processes. Ensure governance of controls and processes is robust
* Own, manage and maintain UK VAT group and registrations with HMRC including managing deregistrations, additions or removals to/from VAT groups

* Complete the transition of the SAO sign off process and WHT.
* Agree with Tax leaders process improvement initiatives to be implemeted and co-ordinate execution with key stakeholders.

* Ensure UK tax numbers are reported timely and accurately, signed off by the Head of Tax and SOX compliant

* Primary driver of technical process improvement initiatives for all software and system related tax functions
* Maintain system internal controls and documentation to support the tax technology tools
* Proactively identify process automation and improvement opportunities, evaluate technology options, and provide recommendations to tax leaders.
* Support the tax leadership's vision for automation of tax processes globally, by aligning best-in-class software with the ERP system.
* Partner with the UK businesses, becoming the initial point of contact for them across all UK taxes.
* Understanding the tax landscape and the impact that changes in tax legislation could have on the business, and communicating this effectively to the businesses.
* Work with other members of the tax department on ad hoc project work as it arises

Person Specification

Qualifications Required: ACA and/or CTA

Skills/Experience

* 5+ years post-qualification experience in a large UK-headquartered enterprise
* Robust understanding of UK direct and indirect tax and the tax compliance and reporting cycles.
* Knowledge of IFRS reporting requirements and experience of tax reporting for a UK-headquartered multinational group and UK GAAP reporting for subsidiary accounts
* Experience of using Excel
* Experience in process improvements and streamlining.
* Strong understanding of general tax technology processes
* Experience of managing relationships with HMRC
* General understanding of the SOX internal controls framework surrounding systems and information technology,
* Excellent project management skills, with extreme attention to detail
* The ability to accurately identify problems and apply strong problem-solving skills to obtain resolution.
