Large property business looking to recruit a Tax Manager for its small team based in the City


Your new company

This is a Tax Manager role for a qualified accountant providing the opportunity to gain tax experience in a large property business. The successful applicant will support the current tax team of 5 people. The tasks will be varied with an approximate 60:40 split between compliance and advisory work.

Your new role

The specific responsibilities of the role include:

* Delivery of tax provisions for inclusion in the year end group accounts
* Preparation and review of annual corporation tax returns
* Quarterly tax forecasting of corporation tax instalment payments
* Dealing with CIS registrations
* Liaising with HMRC in relation to group matters
* Assisting with the tax aspects of property acquisitions, disposals and other ongoing transactions
* Assisting with tax planning, restructuring and refinancing projects
* Assisting the HR team with employment related queries
* Ad hoc assistance as required on tax and wider group finance projects
* Supervising and mentoring a graduate trainee

What you'll need to succeed

The ideal candidate would be a qualified accountant with good prior experience of preparing tax computations and UK tax disclosures for inclusion in statutory accounts. Prior exposure to the property industry is not essential but would be helpful.

Essential Skills and Experience Required

* Recognised accountancy qualification
* 2+ years working in a tax role
* Experience in preparing UK tax computations using alphatax software
* Experience in preparing current and deferred tax disclosures for UK statutory accounts
* Familiarity with double entry bookkeeping
* Self-starter and comfortable working as part of a team
* Ability to build effective working relationships with team members and the wider business
* Excellent written and spoken communication skills
* Interest in gaining a greater understanding of the property sector

Other Desirable Skills and Experience Required

* Prior experience of the property sector
* Prior knowledge of employment taxes
* Awareness of CIS rules
* Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point
