International Tax Managing Director (New York)

The International Tax Private Equity Managing Director is responsible for growing the International Tax Private Equity practice by building relationships with existing clients and prospects to expand the practice and developing a local team.

The Private Equity Managing Director will also advise clients of the tax implications relating to their business objectives, recommend alternate courses of action, as well as identify different methods of complying with tax regulations with a focus on private equity, venture capital and alternative investments clients.

The Managing Director will be expected to have marketable technical skills and have a proven track record of being a problem solver. Additionally, the International Tax Private Equity Managing Director is a critical part of the office’s / region’s Tax Services leadership team and in this capacity will act as a source for guidance on international tax questions and issues.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

⦁ Bachelor’s degree required, focus in Accounting preferred
⦁ J.D., LLM and/or MST/MBT, preferred

Experience

⦁ Ten (10) or more years of experience in corporate tax, international tax or legal professional services or equivalent experience through an advanced degree (LLM) program, required
⦁ Experience in international tax, required
⦁ Experience supervising tax professionals on a project or engagement basis, required
⦁ Experience with private equity and venture capital clients, preferred

License/Certifications

⦁ CPA certification,
⦁ Attorney (admitted to practice in a U.S. jurisdiction),
⦁ Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent (“EA”) or the equivalent of one of these designations, required

Software

⦁ Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel and PowerPoint, preferred
⦁ Experience utilizing RIA, BNA, Lexis Nexis and/or Westlaw, preferred

⦁ Excellent verbal and written communication skills
⦁ Superior analytical and legal and tax research skills, including building models and analysis of financial and numerical data
⦁ Strong organizational skills, specifically the ability to meet project deadlines with a focus on details

⦁ Ability to work in a deadline-driven environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously
⦁ Capable of effective managing a team of tax professionals and delegating work assignments, as needed
⦁ Capable of building and maintaining strong relationships with internal and client personnel
⦁ Ability to encourage a team environment on engagements and contribute to the professional development of assigned personnel
⦁ Executive presence with the ability to act as the primary contact on assigned engagements
⦁ Ability to successfully interact with professionals at all levels
⦁ Advanced knowledge of sources of relevant information utilized in tax filings as well as the most widely-used filing forms and awareness of other less widely used tax forms
⦁ Advanced understanding of the technical and practical issues and opportunities regarding one or more areas of taxation and law
⦁ Advanced knowledge and understanding of general calculations and cause/effect for taxable conditions on clients and the potential tax issues
⦁ Strong legal writing background and familiarity with the IRAC method of analysis
