VAT Specialist (covering Western Europe), London

We are recruiting for a newly created VAT Specialist to join an internationally expanding retailer based in Central London. The successful candidate will be joining an established tax team, reporting into the newly appointed Head of Tax and covering all Indirect Tax operations for Western Europe.

With proven VAT experience, you would be able to hit the ground running with the business, adding value from day one and raising the Tax profile within the finance function. Conversely, my client is happy to take on a more junior candidate from a wider finance background who is willing to dive headfirst into the field with guidance from the great team around them.

The business is currently working remotely and plan to have the finance function in the office 1-2 days a week in the new year.

Key Responsibilities:

- Managing submissions of VAT returns across multiple jurisdictions, European Intrastat and EC sales listings
- Monitoring payments to and from authorities
- Reviewing tax accounts
- Ensuring up to date VAT registrations and compliances
- Managing the Tax Accounts Assistant, the relationship with external service providers and any tax audits
- Reporting to the Group Tax Manager and Head of Tax and supporting other members of the tax team

Requirements:

- Experience of UK VAT compliance is essential
- Experience of VAT compliance across further jurisdictions would be beneficial
- Accountancy or tax qualification beneficial, although study support is offered
- Confidence and good communication skills for dealing with wider finance are important
- An adaptive attitude is essential as the business is growing at pace
