Tax Partner
Letchworth
To £100,000 + benefits

Proven your tax knowledge and team leadership and ready to step into a Partner role?

The current Partner is retiring next year, so now is your chance.

Because of the size and structure, you’d have sole responsibility for managing a single team of tax specialists. It’s a perfectly sized role, with a perfectly sized firm.

The company

They’re long established and grown to become one of the UK’s Top-20 groups of Chartered Accountants with 90 partners and 500 professional staff across 19 UK offices.

You’d be joining the Eastern Group, which comprises of 3 offices and is effectively run as its own small business. You’d be reporting into the group MD and managing a six-strong tax team, including a Private Client Tax Partner.

The group have plans to grow revenue and profitability for both Private Client and Corporate Tax, so you’ll be instrumental in making that happen – and making a noticeable impact.

The role

You’ll get the best of both worlds, especially if this is a step up from somewhere smaller. You’ll still be focused on local clients, but beyond that, you’ll have room to take on more responsibility and to develop your management skills – all with the backing of an ambitious firm.

You’ll have plenty of discretion to do things your way. Strategically, you’ll shape the business plan (working with the Head of Operations) and sharpen the range of products and services. On a day-to-day level, you’ll bring out the best in your team, giving them the support and training they need to hit their targets; that includes hiring new people as the business expands.

Alongside your management responsibilities, you’ll have your own client workload, so you’ll need to be technically proficient in business tax. You’ll be ACA/CTA qualified (or similar) and have experience providing tax advice to SMEs and owner-managed business.

About you

You’ll be the kind of person with the ambition and character to want to take a tax department forward. You’ll have the confidence and credibility to lead the business planning process and to represent the business externally. You’re comfortable setting targets for others and not afraid to hold people to account – even if they’re senior colleagues.

You’ll be working alongside some talented people with experience in specialist industries and markets.

You’ll have access to the best training, exposure to national technical standards and systems plus regular technical support on developments in their field. It’s no surprise that many of the team have chosen to build longstanding careers here.
