VAT Analyst

VAT Analyst - 12 months to perm

A well known entertainment group are looking for a VAT Analyst to join the team for 12 months with a view to going permanent. This is a VAT compliance role predominantly, but will also involve some other taxes and involvement in other projects

The role:

* Preparation of data for VAT returns for an international group with registrations in multiple overseas jurisdictions.
* Review VAT returns and liaise with external advisors and AP/AR teams
* Join responsibility for maintaining monthly VAT balance sheet reconciliations
* Assisting with supplier invoicing and acting as a point of contact for Finance team queries
* Assisting the Tax Manager in dealing with tax queries received from various parts of the business and externally such as tax authorities
* Preparation of VAT guidance notes and training to the business as and when required
* Assist with VAT, and at times other tax, processes and controls
* Involvement in ad hoc project related to Tax and Compliance

About you:

* Studying towards an accountant qualification or a desire to do so
* Experience in working with wider finance functions
* Exposure to International VAT reporting, EC sales and Intrastat reporting, with specific exposure to global trading in goods, and specifically between EU countries - preferred
* Strong excel / data analysis skills
* Well organised and willing to challenge themselves, with the ability to work independently
* Have an understanding of business and financial acumen with experience in financial analysis and tax reporting
* Understanding of general accounting principles and good commercial awareness
* End to end preparation of returns from data extraction to return submission with previous in house tax compliance experience strongly preferred
* Understanding of basic principles of VAT including liability and cross border rules
