Pure Search have been engaged to identify a senior Indirect Tax specialist, either from an in-house or practice background. This will be an ideal opportunity for an existing Senior Manager/Director looking to for a new challenge with an international remit.
The Role
Swords, Dublin, is home to Hertz' European finance hub, where a large team of centralised VAT analysts provide support for the business across the region. An opportunity has arisen for a new senior Director to manage this function, providing strategic and operational leadership across the European region.
* Overall responsibility for Indirect Tax compliance, reporting and advisory across primarily European jurisdictions.
* Lead a team of 8-10 VAT analysts, ensuring continued motivation, technical development and effective management of staff.
* Refine and implement a 'best practice' group compliance policy.
* Ensure operational effectiveness and continuously improve the integrity of systems and controls.
* Represent the business externally, taking the lead on engagements and negotiations with government bodies, tax authorities and auditors.
* Assess the Indirect Tax risk of the group's operations, making strategic decisions on the position and ensuring continued positive reputation with tax authorities.
* Advise business units on international Indirect Tax issues, ensuring tax risk is managed appropriately for all transactions.
* Work with senior and regional stakeholders on VAT initiatives.
* Act as a key member of the Tax leadership team, providing ad hoc support where required.
About you
In order to succeed in this challenging role, it is expected that you will have:
* Significant international Indirect Tax experience (10+ years)
* Prior tax leadership and team management experience is preferred.
* Excellent communication skills and strong commercial decision making.
