We are working with one of Americas leading funding sources for residential housing across the USA. Due to continued growth they seek to hire a Tax General Counsel who has diverse exposure to federal and financial services related tax matters. The role will be based in the groups Washington DC offices.
Working in a team of five tax attorneys you will be advising, and representing the company on a variety of highly complex legal matters and projects related to corporate or mortgage finance law.
The role is diverse in nature and daily duties will include advising on all areas of the company from a tax perspective. New transactions, executions, new initiatives, advising capital markets teams, issuing securities, tax disclosure issues, general US federal income tax considerations, interest rate hedges and much more.
You will provide legal counsel to management on broad issues affecting the company, ensuring that legal documents, such as those related to board meetings and motions, mortgage business, contracts, or other corporate actions are prepared properly.
You will have 8+ years experience and will need to hold a JD of law. Tax LLM from a well-respected school is highly desirable.
Legal experience in a broad range of federal tax issues affecting large financial institutions. A background in the taxation of financial products, debt instruments and securitization transactions is strongly preferred. You will have great research and drafting skills as well as capital markets experience and knowledge of debt instruments. Experience with partnership taxation would be desirable.
